Nap Worth Painting: Meet Sebastion
I recently had the joy of painting this 14-year old siamese cat as a commissioned pet portrait, and I completely fell in love with this endearing pose. (Honestly, it gave me the perfect excuse to break out my favorite Daniel Smith Opera Pink paint!)
It’s these quiet, cozy glimpses that make a keepsake painting so special—a way to treasure our loyal companions.

From the playful pounce to the quiet nap, my latest watercolor series explores the curiosity and silliness that makes cats such a gift. These three pet portrait poses (only two shown here), these feline portraits were inspired by the daily antics of my own studio buddy—Ki-Lani, who loves to “help” by walking directly across my palette.

Meet Ki-Lani, my calico cat art studio ninja! When she is not performing “quality checks” on my latest paintings, she can usually be found claiming any empty box she can find. This hand-painted watercolor design captures Ki-Lani on duty-masked, sitting inside an Amy Boardman Art studio box with a paintbrush in her mouth (dripping her favorite Opera Pink paint, of course!). She is the heart of the studio and the official mascot of my creative process.
