Acrylic Painting on Canvas, “Fields of Promise” by Artist Amy Boardman.

Acrylic on 10”X10” canvas by Amy Boardman

Inspired by Psalm 23:2He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters.”

There is something sacred about the stillness of open fields.

This painting, Fields of Promise, was born from a quiet, reflective moment on the drive to a wedding venue near Huntsville, Alabama. The road wound gently through lush green pastures, golden hay bales resting in the summer sun, with trees lining the way beneath a bright blue sky. Up ahead, a barn waited—ready to host a covenant exchange, a beginning of a new life joined together.

I could not help but pause in that moment. The scene was more than just beautiful—it felt divinely timed. Like an invitation to take notice.

As I returned home and began painting, the stillness stayed with me. I thought about how God often leads us through beauty into something new. Before committments are made, before vows are exchanged, before we step into change—He surrounds us with peace. With grace. With reminders that we are not walking alone.

The soft green fields, the golden hay bales, that winding road—they all became symbols to me of sacred transition. Of how God gently prepares us for new beginnings, whether it is a marriage, a calling, a new season, or a deeper walk with Him. Sometimes, He does not rush us forward. Instead, He invites us to rest—to lie down in the green pastures He has already prepared.

The verse from Psalm 23 has long been one of comfort and direction in my life:

“He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters.” It is a reminder of both stillness and movement—of the rest and the leading. Of peace and purpose.

Fields of Promise is more than a landscape painting to me. It is a visual prayer of gratitude. For the quiet places. For the sacred journeys. For the God who walks ahead of us, gently guiding, faithfully providing, lovingly preparing the way.

Where are you seeing God’s hand gently leading you these days? What green pastures has He placed in your life to help you rest, reflect, and prepare?

Hello, I'm an artist based in Huntsville, Alabama, deeply inspired by the natural world and guided by my faith. My creative journey began in the rural Midwest, surrounded by the serene beauty of farmland and rustic barns, and now flourishes amidst the breathtaking Appalachian Mountains.

From a young age, I was captivated by art through my father’s teenage sketches. This early exposure sparked a lifelong passion for painting, which has become a peaceful escape and a means of personal and spiritual expression. My work primarily explores landscapes and a variety of subjects, including pets, animals, still lifes, and food. I work with watercolor, acrylic, and digital media, and occasionally delve into gouache, each medium offering a unique way to express my vision.

Art is more than a creative outlet for me; it’s a conduit for sharing hope, joy, and smiles. My life’s journey—shaped by a nomadic lifestyle across the USA—has profoundly influenced my artistic perspective. Each new place I've called home has offered fresh inspiration, enriching my appreciation for America's diverse landscapes and deepening my connection to nature.

My art blends my love for nature, my Christian faith, and my American heritage. I strive to reflect the beauty of the natural world and the divine in my paintings, offering encouragement, love, and hope to those who encounter my work. Each piece is created with the intention of fostering gratitude and optimism, brightening the world, and uplifting spirits—one painting at a time.

Thank you for joining me on this artistic journey. Happy painting!
