Blessed By Blooms: Finding God in the Beauty of a Tulip Field
Welcome to my blog where we celebrate the beauty of nature and the joy of creativity. Spring is a magical time of year, with dormant plants coming to life and bursting from the ground, displaying an array of beautiful colors. I love ❤️ spring because it is the perfect reminder of renewal, beauty, fragility, and the love of God! Some of my favorite plants this time of year are the blooming redbud trees, daffodils, and beautiful tulips! 🌷
Imagine standing in a field of flowers, rows, and rows of vibrant colors stretching as far as your eyes can see. That's exactly how I felt when I stumbled upon the 85-year-old flower fields in Carlsbad, California. The sight was simply breathtaking, and I longed to return to that majestic place.
This breathtaking experience leaves one in awe of the beauty of nature. The vibrant colors of the blooms and the sweet fragrance in the air are truly a blessing to behold. It's hard not to see evidence of God in the intricate details of each tulip, a reminder of the divine creativity and artistry present in the world.
Recently, I heard about a local tulip farm in New Market, AL that opened in March, and I was ecstatic to take my family there for a perfect photo opportunity 📸 and draw inspiration for a painting 🖼️ or two. However, my excitement dwindled as we pulled up 🚗 to the field. It was disappointing 😞 small, with gaping holes of unearthed dirt and flowers that had yet to emerge from the ground. It was nothing like the magnificent fields in Carlsbad or even the stunning sunflower field in Ohio.
Despite the flaws, we made the best of our day trip 🚗 and captured some lovely photos 📸. And as I stood amongst the tulips, I couldn't help but marvel at the intricate details of each flower 🌷. It's amazing how God created such a variety of colors, shapes, and sizes for us to enjoy.
The imperfect tulip field reminded me that, just like it, we too have flaws and imperfections. But we're still valued and loved by our maker. So let's take a cue from the tulip field and embrace and appreciate our beauty and imperfections. We are all worthy of love and time from the divine, no matter what imperfections we may have. As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "The earth laughs in flowers," and boy, is this field laughing! 😂 As I painted 🎨 this cute landscape, it inspired me as an artist and as a believer in Christ. This small tulip field may not be as famous as Carlsbad's, but it's just as significant to me. It reminded me that slow and steady wins the race, even in small places.
Before I even picked up my paintbrush, I had to sketch out the layout of the flowers and choose the perfect color palette to convey the scene. Paying attention to the light source and shadows was crucial to creating a masterpiece. As I painted, I felt pure joy seeing the tulips come to life on paper with their playful colors. My hope is that this painting reminds viewers of the incredible beauty of God's creation and how much He loves ❤️ us; imperfections and all. (1 John 4:9-10) In Psalm 96:12 says, "Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; let all the trees of the forest sing for joy."
Painting these lovely flowers has been a joyous journey, allowing me to appreciate their fleeting beauty and capture their essence on paper. I hope that my blog post ✍🏻 inspires you to visit a flower field or take a hike in nature and enjoy the beauty of spring for yourself. So go out and explore the world, one tulip at a time!
XOXO,
