Why Meaning Matters: Choosing Art That Speaks to the Soul
Not Just Decor, But a Reflection of Faith and Beauty

In a world filled with fast trends, mass production, and fleeting aesthetics, many collectors find themselves asking a deeper question:
“Does this piece actually mean something to me?”
As a faith-rooted artist, I believe art should do more than decorate a wall or fill a space. It should reflect something about you—beauty, wonder, awe, the gift of the present moment—while inspiring hope, peace, gratitude, healing, and stillness.
If you’ve ever longed for art that speaks to your soul, you’re not alone—and you’re exactly who I create for.
Why Art Should Speak to the Soul
Art has always been a powerful form of expression—but the most powerful pieces connect. They carry memory, emotion, or a message. They stir something spiritual.
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” – Psalm 19:1
When I paint, I’m inspired by that same divine beauty. I see glimpses of God’s hand in creation—in crashing waves, still waters, sunlit pears, or a sleepy boat resting on a lake. Every painting I create is a response to my calling: a way to honor, glorify, and reflect the Creator.
I don’t just paint what I see—I paint what I feel God is whispering through it.
A Personal Beginning
Before I stepped fully into my calling as an artist, my journey began in a modest but meaningful way. Early in my marriage, while living in California on a tight budget, I started painting for our home because I longed for beauty—but couldn’t afford to buy it. So I created it.
I’d see a piece I loved and think,
“Maybe I can paint something like that.”
That desire—blending meaning and beauty—never left me. It became the foundation of the art I now share with others.
The Difference Between Decor and Original Art
Decor is nice. It fills a space. But often it’s mass-produced and designed to blend in—not stand out.
Original art, especially fine art, is different. It’s handmade, one-of-a-kind, and layered with intention. It’s created for beauty, thought, and meaning. It sparks conversation, evokes emotion, and invites connection. It’s a timeless investment—meant to be treasured.
A piece of original art may remind you of:
A special moment or memory
A Scripture God placed on your heart
A beloved pet who fills a quiet home
Encouragement in a difficult season
A quiet hope for what’s still to come
Original work carries presence. It is born from prayer, process, and purpose. No two pieces are alike—because they’re not supposed to be. That’s the beauty of collecting from the artist directly.
You're not just purchasing a painting—you’re receiving part of a story.
Each piece I create is made with gratitude, wonder, and delight. I reflect deeply on Scripture, color, texture, and emotion to create something personal, lasting, and full of life.
When you collect original art, you bring home something meaningful to pass down—not just something trendy.
As a fine artist, I create with collectors in mind—people who value meaning, not marketing. And just as I create with purpose, I also love supporting fellow artists who pour their hearts into their work. There’s something sacred about that exchange.
What Makes a Piece Collector-Worthy?
Fine art collectors aren’t just looking for something “pretty.” They’re seeking purpose—a visual expression of their story, values, or faith.
What makes a piece truly worth collecting?
1. Authenticity – Was it created by the artist’s hand with care and intention?
2. Story – What inspired it? What truth, beauty, or reflection does it carry?
3. Spiritual or Emotional Connection – Does it move you, comfort you, speak to you?
4. Timelessness – Will it still resonate with you in five, ten, or twenty years?
I’ve been so touched by collectors who’ve said things like:
“This piece brings me peace every time I see it.”*
“I see God’s presence in this.”*
That’s why I paint.
The Heart Behind One of My Favorite Pieces
One of my favorite paintings, “Pear-fectly Aligned,” was born during a prayer walk and a moment of clarity about how God aligns everything—relationships, timing, even our growth—just right.
It’s a still life of three differently colored pears, but it’s also a metaphor for divine alignment and the Trinity—God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit—three in one, in perfect harmony and unity.
(Matthew 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:14, and 1 John 5:7 reflect this powerful truth.)
I painted it with awe, reflection, and joy. Though it’s perfect for a kitchen, it carries more than color and composition—it carries a quiet spiritual message that speaks into everyday life.
That’s what I want my collectors to experience:
A visual reminder of something bigger than us—something anchored in hope.
Another painting close to my heart is Tides of Solitude—a quiet coastal scene that holds more than meets the eye.
This piece reflects those sacred moments when we’re pulled away from the noise—into stillness, reflection, and presence. The soft tide, gentle shoreline, and subtle horizon speak to the peace that finds us when we let God meet us in the quiet. It’s more than a coastal scene; it’s an invitation to breathe deeply, to be still, and to rest in calm.
I painted Tides of Solitude during a time when our family needed rest, clarity, and restoration—while on vacation in Destin, Florida. The solitude didn’t feel lonely; it felt comforting and sacred. Like a divine pause. A reset. A quiet reminder that even in still waters, God is near and working deeply within us.
…god is near and working deeply within us.
“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10
This is why I create: not just to paint beautiful places, but to offer peaceful ones—visual sanctuaries that speak to the soul, stir something deeper, and gently slow us down enough to notice what truly matters.
After all, isn’t that what a vacation is meant to do—just like keeping the Sabbath holy? God knows we need a reset. A chance to step away from the rush, reconnect with what matters, and return restored—mind, body, and soul. It’s His design. A sacred pause. A space to breathe, reflect, and receive renewed peace and clarity.
