Navigating Art Contest

Entering the realm of fine art contests has been a journey filled with exhilaration and challenges. This year marks my humble beginnings, as I submit my watercolor and acrylic creations to various competitions. While the thrill of having my work accepted is unmatched, the sting of rejection, sometimes due to minor administrative oversights rather than artistic merit, serves as a reminder of the learning curve inherent in this pursuit. Nonetheless, each contest offers invaluable lessons, acting as a litmus test for my artistry amidst a sea of submissions.

Navigating the highs of acceptance and lows of disqualification has been both humbling and enlightening. Contest participation provides a unique opportunity to glean insights from discerning judges, discerning what captures their eyes amidst a multitude of entries. It's a path of self-discovery, where denials and acceptances alike serve as compass points, guiding me towards refinement and growth. With every submission, I embrace the courage to share my art with the world, understanding that setbacks are not judgments on my talent but invitations to evolve. Gratitude fills my heart as I acknowledge the divine gift of creativity bestowed upon me, driving me to honor my creator by shining brightly and bringing hope and joy to those in need of encouragement. Through contests, I embark on a journey of recognition, fueled by a passion to continually hone my craft and illuminate the world with my art.

Amy Boardman

Hello, I’m Amy Boardman, an artist based in Huntsville, Alabama, inspired by the beauty of nature, my Christian faith, and my Southern roots, while savoring life’s fleeting moments. My creative journey began in the rural Midwest and now flourishes in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Art captured my heart at a young age through my father’s teenage sketches, sparking a lifelong passion for painting. I work primarily in watercolor and acrylic.

My subjects include coastal and waterscapes, landscapes and places, pets and wildlife, still life and food—each piece created to honor the Creator and reflect the beauty that surrounds us. Rooted in gratitude and a love for God’s creation, I strive to share hope, joy, and encouragement through my art while celebrating the freedom and blessings of being American.
