Exploring Gouache-A Versatile Medium

Discovering gouache has been a delightful journey for me! This versatile medium strikes a perfect balance between acrylics, watercolors, and oils. What captivates me most is its manipulability, the ability to be reactivated with water, and its elegant matte finish that many art enthusiasts admire.

One of my initial ventures into gouache painting was a piece featuring a seagull against a stylized ocean backdrop. The radiant white feathers glistened under the sun, inspiring the title: "Coastal Comfort: Seagull Style."

This 8" X 8" gouache original painting is available for sale. Contact me if you're interested in purchasing it and adding a touch of coastal charm to your space.

If you haven't already, I encourage you to explore gouache. Its unique qualities might just win you over. What's your favorite artistic medium? Share your thoughts!

Artist Bio – Amy Boardman

"Art that slows the heart, stirs the spirit, and reflects beauty and grace."

Based in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Huntsville, Alabama, I am a fine artist specializing in Expressive Realism. Working primarily in watercolor and acrylic, my work is a gentle invitation to pause, reflect, and appreciate the gift of today.

My creative journey began in the rural Midwest, inspired by my father’s sketches, and has been shaped by my Christian faith and deep Southern roots. From soulful pet portraits to coastal landscapes, each piece is created to honor the Creator and capture life’s fleeting moments. My mission is to offer a quiet refuge in a busy world—inviting you to see the beauty and wonder in the everyday.
