The Spirit of Christmas, Unbroken: A Wreath of Traditions and Joy

As the holiday season approaches, I’m filled with excitement to share something very special with you all — my newest watercolor painting, "Spirit of Christmas, Unbroken." This piece is more than just a festive scene; it’s a celebration of the traditions that shape our holiday memories, the love that surrounds us, and the unbroken spirit of Christmas that continues to fill our hearts year after year.

This painting is particularly meaningful to me because it’s inspired by my very first real Christmas wreath. A few years ago, our realtor gifted us an evergreen wreath when we moved into our new home. I remember holding it in my hands for the first time, breathing in the scent of fresh pine, and marveling at the beauty of the branches. It was a gift full of meaning, and in that moment, it was as if Christmas had truly arrived in our home.

The wreath became a symbol of warmth and welcome — a reminder that the holiday season is not just about decorations, but about love, hope, and new beginnings. The evergreen branches, resilient and full of life, reflected what Christmas is really about: the gift of Jesus Christ, whose birth offers us eternal love, grace, and renewal. The wreath’s circular shape is a perfect metaphor for this — a symbol of unbroken, everlasting love, much like the love we receive through Christ.

Every time I looked at the wreath, I thought about how Christmas traditions help us create lasting memories, how they bring us together with family and friends, and how they fill our homes with meaning. The wreath has become a beloved part of our tradition, not just because of its beauty, but because it reminds us of the deeper joy and peace that Christmas represents.

When I began painting "Spirit of Christmas, Unbroken," I knew I wanted to capture that same feeling of connection and joy. The red berries, the nutcracker, the bow — each detail represents the timeless traditions we hold dear, but it’s the wreath itself that feels most symbolic. To me, it represents everything we cherish about the season: the eternal love of God, the warmth of being surrounded by loved ones, and the way Christmas traditions help us hold on to what truly matters.

This season, as we celebrate with family and friends, I hope we all take a moment to reflect on the real meaning of Christmas: the birth of Jesus Christ, the ultimate gift of love, and the hope He brings to the world. Whether through acts of kindness, heartfelt prayers, or simply being present with those we love, let’s share that spirit of joy and unbroken love with one another.
